Description: The great RAFT excursion of the class 6 of Mrs Schaefer and the students of the Latin course 10 of the EMA Bonn had been prepared. The excursion takes place on May 26th. The prooftesting of a new lessons form is the aim of this field trip: Remote Accessible Field trips, Bridging The World and of The Classroom. Two groups of students will investigate in the Xanten area for her class-mates who remain at the school place. With PDA, table PC, mms mobile, notebook computer and minidisk-recorder they will collect data in Xanten. They will provide "internet live" her work results. Three students will document the activity of her classmates with camcorders. You will read the results also in the new RAFT platform http://www.raft-project.net
The group in the classroom can follow the excursion and take part interactively (also by video conference) in the excursion . We will ask the archeologists in Xanten at 13.00 and the responsible museum educationalist in the video meeting too. The field group gets the status of "World Wide Web reporters". We also want to test advantages and disadvantages of Wireless local area network and in the future GPS, Bluetooth and similar systems under real field conditions. You can see some photos from the two preparatory excursions here below, made by students of the 7th class of the RSG Sankt Augustin, the 8th class of comprehensive school Bonn-Beuel and the 10th class of EMA.
